Psalm 119:105 ~ Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

NOTES

2/10/2025 - Today we discussed Jehovah Jireh! You've all probably heard this name of God before, and it means The LORD will provide! We follow the story of Abraham and his obeying of God's command to sacrifice his one and only son Isaac.

Jehovah Jireh - Genesis 22:9-14

2/3/2025 - This week we talked about Jehovah Rohi (The LORD is my Shepherd). Always remember that Jesus said He is the Good Shepherd, and we can trust He will always protect us and guide us!

 Jehovah Rohi - Psalm 23

1/13/2025 - This week we are talking about the name of God called El Elyon! This name means God Most High! It lets us know that God is above all! It also means that God has the last say in life's situations! So no matter what it looks like to anyone else, El Elyon has the final say!

El Elyon - Genesis 14:18

1/6/2025 - Continuing with the names of God...this week we discussed Elohim and Adonai. Elohim is the first name of God mentioned in the Bible. It means powerful creator God, and is written in English as simply G-o-d. it is also plural in the Hebrew. It gives us a direct glimpse at the multi-person nature of God. So you can start to see how learning about God's names opens up so much hidden treasures about God. Adonai is the next name we talked about and it means master. Similar to Yahweh, it is written in your Bibles as L-o-r-d with just the L capitalized. Jesus is often referred to as Lord and Savior. When we gives our lives to him initially, He becomes our Savior, but once we surrender complete control of our lives over to Jesus, He then becomes our Adonai (Lord or Master).

Elohim - Genesis 1:1

Adonai - Genesis 15:2

12/30/2024 - This week we stopped our discussion of the names of God and we talked about depression. Holidays are some of the happiest times for some and the hardest times for others. We read in 1 Kings 19:1-4 how the prophet Elijah was depressed and asked God to die, but God had much better plans in store for him. And we need to remember that God loves us and has a plan for our life, and that even though life is hard sometimes, our faith is forged in the fires of life!

12/23/2024 - This week we began our weekly study on the names of God! We discussed the names Yahweh, Jehovah, and Jehovah-Rapha. Remember, Yahweh is the name God gave Moses at the burning bush. In English, Yahweh is represented by the word lord in all caps (L-O-R-D), and it means I AM that I AM. Jehovah is just the Latin translation of the Hebrew word Yahweh. So when we talk about Jehovah, we are still referring to Yahweh (I AM). The extra names tagged onto Jehovah tell us more information about who God is to us. The first one we covered is Jehovah-Rapha, which means God our Healer!

Yahweh/Jehovah - Exodus 3:13-15

Jehovah-Rapha - Exodus 15:26
